Subject: [SFBirds] ORCHARD Oriole in the Sunset 5/9/25
While walking my cat (no joke) just had a brief encounter with a young male ORCHARD Oriole.

It popped up on a coyote bush next to the tennis courts where 26th Avenue dead ends at Pine Lake Park. Flew into a tree in a yard across the street then took off to the north across Vicente.

Earlier, this afternoon, while biking by Laguna Honda on my way home from work I stopped to look at a few Cedar waxwings calling from the treetops. The waxwings began to fly out toward the Hospital open space across Clarendon so I started to count. By the time the flock appeared to move off completely 12 minutes later I had tallied over 1400.

The fun never stops on days like this.

Happy spring migration to all,
