Subject: [ia-bird] ?bobwhite?
Hello IOUers-
Driving on US 20 tonight, just west of the IA 4 exchange, a smaller bird
flew up out of the ditch and across the east-bound lanes. It was about the
size of a meadowlark, maybe a titch bigger; darker in color with a more
rounded body shape (like a light bulb); and it's wing-beats reminded me
very much of a meadowlark or a pheasant (fast flapping, pause, fast
flapping, pause, etc). Obviously, travelling 70 mph down the highway,
that's the best id I could get and the bird would've been long gone had I
turned around to track it.

Maybe a bobwhite?
Maybe another bird?

Thanks for your help-
-Kristy, Kingsley IA
