9 feet tall? How do you clean the box out? Guess that's why it needs to be reinforced?

Pinesol and other scents proved impractical. I resorted to mounting fewer boxes on reinforced poles nine feet tall. So far so good. Both boxes were successful last year and in use again this year.

So, late last night a bear (I presume) pulled down the metal post (with baffle) that held my bluebird house. A pair had been building a nest and I wasn't sure if eggs had yet been laid. But this morning we found the post pulled down and the nestbox on the ground. The bear had not been able to open the nestbox door. Luckily, there were no signs of eggs or nestlings inside. Just a nest. The adult pair have been standing vigil nearby today.
So, I'm wondering if I should put the house back up, or assume the bear will return and encourage the pair to start a nest somewhere else.
A Google search led me to a post from lain Macleod about testing Pinesol or pine scent to deter bears, back in 2021. Wondering what the findings were from that experiment.
