All,
Given the ideal conditions, I have checked Refugio Canyon the last two mornings. Unfortunately, the birds mostly haven't cooperated and there have been very low numbers of migrants, with almost nothing in the watchpoint area other than a couple of flocks of Cedar Waxwings and a few Western Kingbirds. Mid canyon has been slightly better with a chat today, a Cassin's Vireo yesterday and a few warblers.
A saving grace this morning was a movement of Black Swifts. These were moving when I arrived at 6.40 but tailed off after 8 am. I had 113 in all, moving through in flocks. I also had a flock of Vaux's Swifts.
Regards,
Nick Lethaby
