Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Jim Landau
Observers:
Visitors: No visitors.
Weather: Overcast all day with at least 3 levels of cloud at times. Milder temps and no sprinkles, wind was steady from the southeast all day.
Raptor Observations: Something to count every hour although hardly overwhelming, with TVs once again taking the high count. It was challenging to parse out the locals from the migrants, but the migrants were generally high up in the express lane. Hour 2 & 3 were spent at Section H and the last 3 at the ball park. Highlight of the day was in the 3rd hour when a Black Vulture moved through in company of 8 TVs and 4 broad-wings. Confident I.D. as I see them regularly every winter in Eastern North Carolina.
Non-raptor Observations: Nothing of note from the non-raptors.
Predictions: Tomorrow is the last day of "official" watch. THANK YOU to all of this season's volunteer counters! National Weather Service calls for, "A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 40%." ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
