The Whimbrel found yesterday at the Searcy Wastewater Treatment Plant in Searcy AR is continuing today. Several people saw it today, and it was a LIFE bird for most. However, the views are terrible and a step ladder is needed unless you're at least 6' tall. Or there's a cedar tree on the right that has been chopped by a local beaver that you can stand on. The reason it's difficult to see is because it's in the bowl of an old pond that's currently filled with tall grasses. It can easily disappear for a while, so patience is recommended. The attached map shows the location with X representing where the bird is being seen and the red "squares" representing where to look from. The red square on the right is where a step ladder is likely needed. A scope is helpfulat either spot but is necessary if viewing from the left square.Patty McLean

A Whimbrel was seen today at 6 in Searcy at the Water Treatment Plant. Larger wader bird, long narrow down turned bill. Field to the East of Davis Dr. Bring a step ladder and a good pair of Binoculars/long lens to view into the field.
