There’s more parking at Emory Cove/Bayshore Bikeway Parking Lot, (32.602394 -117.124126) now (11:40). You can walk out the levee to the east and look south into Pond 11. HOWEVER, the WWTE was not discernible among the other sitting terns when I left a few minutes ago. When flying, one can pick it out by the Black Tern-like flight pattern.

Arrived Sunday at the end of J Street at around 7:25 a.m. and immediately saw the White-winged tern. A bit to the right or northwest of the submerged oyster balls. And actually doing a fair amount of feeding in the water up against the marsh vegetation as well as sitting on what little bit of exposed mud there is. The tide is quite a bit higher than it's been the last few mornings.

Before departing on yesterday's pelagic trip, I talked with Captain Brian of the New Seaforth fishing boat and he showed me video that he and his crew had taken of a young Magnificent Frigatebird circling around their boat a mile off Point Loma this past Wednesday. They even flung bait fish at it which it grabbed out of the air.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
