Hi Folks,
Take a look at this KNOT seen by Tim Rodenkirk in Coos Bay Oregon yesterday morning. I suspect it might be a GREAT KNOT, but I do not have any experience with that species.
In particular Tim describes the bird as large and long legged, the size of a Black-bellied Plover. The bill looks thick and large and slightly droopy. It is an adult and shows no hint of red feathers in the chest (there is buffiness, but no red feathers) and it the breast/chest has some dark centered feathers which a Red Knot should not have.
Love to hear from some of you who have seen plenty of Great Knots.
