Birders.I have just learned that Brosnan Forest here in Dorchester County'SC is only open to the public a few times a year when there are special group visits. I had been seeing interesting reports on eBird but was not aware of tbe restrictions. Brosnan Forest is an 11,000.acre preserve of Longleaf Pine and hardwoods. containing several Red-cockaded Woodpecker clusters. It is privately owned by the Norfolk Southern railroad and apparently does a careful job in preserving Longleaf Pine forest with controlled burns.
