Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] White-winged Tern on Monday
Monday morning, the White-winged Tern off J Street was present immediately following my arrival at 5:55 a.m.. It is often already present immediately after dawn, although every few days, such as yesterday, its appearance is delayed by over an hour. It often departs for other feeding areas at some point after 8:00 or 9:00 a.m., sometimes earlier sometimes later, the timing varying depending on the tides, the wind speed, or simply the bird's mood. People got fairly good looks at it at Pond 11 bordering the Silver Strand yesterday mid-morning.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
