I observed a single Black Oystercatcher this a.m. on the beach north of the San Luis Rey River. It has a definitelimp, but foraged successfully. The oystercatcher is uncommon at this location.
Also present, a Surfbird on the beach foraging with Willets, not on the jetty as typical. An immature Yellow-crowned Night-Heron appeared briefly on the spit at the river mouth. I observed it earlier this month and note a number of records at this location beginning in July. This heron has previously been uncommon at this spot.
