Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] Amazons of Irvine Ctr Dr
Good morning,

Over the past few weeks on my commute to and from work, I have noticed along Irvine Centre Drive (between Harvard Avenue and Jeffrey Road with concentration around the intersection with Culver Drive), that there has been an increase or at least a more noticeable presence of Amazons (from their calls and the views I could get, they are Red Crowned, but there may well be others and/or hybrids within). I have counted flocks of 10-20, but there could be more unseen, and these are estimates done whilst stopped at a red light or quick glances from the car.

Has there always been a population in this area, or have they recently expanded? I can't say I have seen them before this summer, especially in the numbers I've noticed. Has it been a gradual increase of a population there, or have they all suddenly appeared as a flock?
