Last night at 5:30 PM, at Creekside Park, I found a juvenile Archilochus Sp. Hummingbird, presumably Black-chinned Hummingbird. I was standing at the east end of the dry flood retention concrete basin on the north side of Cerrito Creek (15 ft west of the fallen tree - foot bridge). The bird was at about (37.8983039, -122.3045264) and best viewed from the Contra Costa (north) side of the creek.
Based on the different pattern of throat spotting, this is clearly a different individual than either of the (1-2) Black-chinneds reported on 8/24 or 8/26.
To me, the shape of the primaries looked better for Black-chinned, though one other possibility was mentioned on Telegram. It was sunning itself in sunlit Willows about 10 to 15 feet off the ground, on trees on both sides of the creek. Long, slender, hummingbird, with white throat and clean white underparts, gray crown, with green back.
