The Bald Eagle Mountain - Eagle Field hawk watch has begun, this being our 6th season. This watch concentrates on Golden Eagles. We see most of the Golden Eagles during Nov to mid-Dec - see attached figure. It is still early in the season. This site is not manned every day, only on favorable wind days. The Predictions field in Hawkcount usually has good predictions about conditions. This is a long-distance hawk watch - many times, the eagles are relatively far away. A spotting scope is very useful.
Access to the site is through private land. Hawk watchers or avid birders who wish to hawk watch are welcome to attend. However, we do not have the capacity to host many visitors or vehicles. We cannot host the general public, casual observers, or field trips. Please do not promote this site to the public.
Directions: go to the website Hawkcount.org, click Monthly, choose 'Bald Eagle Mountain - Eagle Field', click Site Profile>General and scroll down. You walk about 1/3 mi, as shown on the attached map, there are 4 small signs along the way.
